Dakar, September 29 (APS) – The Ministry of the Interior confirmed, in a press release, the maintenance at the latest this Sunday, September 29, 2024, at midnight, of the closing date for the submission of lists of candidates for the early legislative elections from November 17.
The confirmation of the period for submitting lists of candidates for the upcoming legislative elections was announced after many actors present at a meeting held on Saturday with the Minister of the Interior, Jean-Baptiste Tine, expressed the wish to see push back the deadline in order to overcome some administrative difficulties.
”The Minister of the Interior and Public Security informs legally constituted political parties, coalitions of political parties and entities bringing together independent people that the period for submitting lists could not be extended as desired by most of the actors present at the meeting held on September 28,” reports the press release from the said ministry.
The ministerial department in charge of organizing elections in Senegal therefore emphasizes that the filing period is set from Saturday September 28 to Sunday September 29 at midnight.
