Mancy, chronicle of a predicted mess

Published today at 6:29 a.m.

Since 2022, justice has been looking into the Mancy home. The facts denounced are numerous: from the intoxication of a resident at Temesta to her escape on a scooter which took her to the entrance to the motorway on a summer Sunday in 2021…

The investigators’ other criticisms appear no less serious: questionable treatments, in terms of nutrition and confinement, which would have been inflicted on other autistic people.

Whose fault is it? To the director at the time now placed on prevention? To his successors? To the staff? Up the hierarchy to the top of the department? Perhaps the investigation will tell.

Disavowal of the State

But the prosecutor’s task is arduous. In March, we revealed that the State had been heavy-handed in dismissing the director of the Medical-Pedagogical . The judgment of the Administrative Chamber sounded like a disavowal for the government.

Are criminal responsibilities to be found elsewhere in the hierarchical and political scale? The only certainty, in the light of the investigation: the home was opened in problematic conditions, due to lack of resources and anticipation, according to witnesses.

This malaise, made up of burn-out, work stoppages and rivalries within the home, occurred shortly after the opening of the home. Covid hasn’t helped anything.

All this will perhaps not translate into criminal law, but we can already see the chronicle of a predicted waste.
