“We have invested more than 20 billion euros in our French activities since 2010,” said Frédéric Duval, CEO of Amazon.fr.

Amazon announced on Monday the creation of 2,000 permanent jobs in France “by the end of the year”bringing the total number of employees to 24,000 employees, according to a press release.

“The positions to be filled concern all types of profiles and all levels of skills and experience: logistics operations managers, experienced software engineers or developers, human resources managers”explains the online sales giant.

20 billion euros

“We have invested more than 20 billion euros in our French activities since 2010” And “Thanks to these investments, Amazon has become the leading net creator of jobs in France”, declared Frédéric Duval, general manager of Amazon.fr, in a press release sent to AFP. The independent firm Progexa, in a report prepared for Amazon’s central Social and Economic Committee (CSE) and sent last October, noted that Amazon was encountering difficulties “to stabilize” its workforce in its warehouses, 9 out of 10 employees having less than five years of seniority.

Progexa put the turnover rate at 36%, which, theoretically, means that “approximately every 3 years, all AFL (Amazon France Logistics, Editor’s note) staff is renewed”. Furthermore, the “natural departures” (such as retirement or transfers) are poorly represented at Amazon (3%). In 2022, 31% of permanent employees who left the company did so due to an end to their trial period, 38% because they were dismissed, 25% because they resigned or 3% with a conventional termination.

Amazon France currently employs 22,000 permanent employees, some of whom work for Amazon France Logistique, which manages large warehouses, including eight distribution centers.
