It is certainly one of the most important projects in the history of Saint-Gilles (). A colossal project which – although started several weeks ago – has just reached a very important new stage: the laying the first stone.

It took place on Tuesday September 24, in the presence of the city’s mayor, Eddie Valadier. His first assistant, Dominique Tudelawas also present, as was the president of Caf du Gard, Didier Paquettethe sub-prefect of the district of Nîmes, Rémi Nicolas, or the architect Daniel Fanzutti.

Children are a priority for the municipality. We have already invested in our schools and it was essential to offer young people equipment that meets their needs.

A project “already rewarded”

With stone facades from Vers-Pont-du-Gard, the future Pôle Enfance has already been reward by obtaining the Occitanie Sustainable Building label – Silver level.

“With his clean lines and his large facades“, the building will ensure high energy performance in the face of local climatic hazards, such as the mistral and strong sunny periods while integrating perfectly into this district of the city”, welcomes the City.

Designed with a bioclimatic approach, it integrates large openings and interior transparency effects to maximize natural light.

An investment of 11 million euros

The construction of this 3000 m building2 is currently estimated at 11 million euros excluding taxes (HT). Its delivery is hoped for end of year 2025 After 18 months of work.

THE leisure center will be able to accommodate up to 220 children (kindergartens and elementary students). There municipal nursery will be able to have up to 40 cradles (compared to 32 currently) with two distinct spaces: “our little ones who walk will have their own activity room overlooking a courtyard and the little ones, indoor and outdoor spaces meeting their needs” .

The main entrance to the new Childhood and Leisure Center is located at 2 rue de la Pimperelle. Parking spaces and a few “drop-offs” will make traffic flow more smoothly. A large courtyard will allow bicycle parking.

A space will also be designed for parents, childminders and early childhood professionals.

A large catering area

A kitchen dining area is planned so that each age group can benefit from adapted meals.

The nursery will benefit from a bright dining room opening onto a tree-lined patio.

” THE kindergarten will be served on a plate and installed on furniture adapted to their size, continues the City. While the children in elementary will have access to self-service to promote autonomy and fight against waste. »

Finally, the building will use “innovative technologies for comfort and efficiency” (geothermal energy, air fans, ceiling fans, photovoltaic panels), etc.
