Local entrepreneurs gathered this Thursday in Laudun for the Provence Proactive trade show. An economic return for the Rhodanien which has no shortage of assets and an opportunity for exhibitors to meet potential candidates for employment.

More than sixty companies gathered this Thursday, September 26 in Laudun, for the Provence Occitane Proactive (POP) show, the unmissable meeting for local entrepreneurs. On the program for this day: business meetings, the economic return of the Gard Rhodanien urban community and, new this year, a recruitment period. To respond to the difficulties of professions in tension, the Show opened its doors to the public for a time devoted to interviews. Exhibitors were able to receive potential candidates in order to present their professions and their job offers.

Agriculture, tourism and industry, the three pillars

“The idea of this day is above all to network companies”, Jean-Christian Rey, president of the Gard Rhodanien urban community. He recalled that the department is dominated by three economic pillars, agriculture, tourism and industry, which it is important to continue to develop. “Despite the wine crisis, Laudun has become the third growth of the city”, recalled Jean-Christian Rey for whom the agriculture of tomorrow must take into account new ecological issues, in particular land irrigation. Regarding tourism, the president of the Agglomeration draws a positive assessment since the objective of widening the seasonal wings is confirmed: “Despite a somewhat calm month of August, we are seeing a 4.5% increase in overnight stays during this peak season. » Finally, the industrial sector is a vector of important new projects which could have a lasting impact in the years to come.

Jean-Christian Rey insisted on the role of companies in this approach: “Territorial marketing is the idea of everyone being an ambassador for the territory. We must work on elements of common language and remember that we are the leading employment area in Gard and the second industrial site in Occitanie. Despite this, we note difficulties in human resources. »

The “Dare to Prov’Occ” system can be a solution. He suggests putting forward the territory as an argument for recruiting: selling the advantages of the region, targeting potential interested parties and offering free installation assistance services.

Disability and professional environment

Among all the participating companies, Handiwork was the only representative of the disability sector. The training organization was created following the observation that the world of disability and the ordinary professional environment were two distinct worlds too far apart. The company is a gateway that allows recruiters to better understand the mechanics of integrating people with disabilities.

She also supports people with disabilities in discovering the ordinary professional environment. Julie Valtoux, employee at Handiwork explains: “We have partnerships with large groups, especially in the handling, catering and logistics sectors. We are sometimes told that these are professions that do not make us dream, but they are almost the only ones that offer contracts adapted to people with disabilities. »
