This Thursday morning at 10 a.m., Météo-France has placed six departments on orange rain-flood alert, including Haute-Savoie and Ain.
In the departments of Ain, Jura, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie, accumulations could reach 50 to 80 mm in 12 hours of almost continuous rain, or even 70 to 100 mm on the entire episode, specifies Météo-France.

The most intense rains are expected in the afternoon over Jura and Ain then at the end of the day or at night over Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Météo-France also warns of possible river overflows or mudslides.

In Geneva, the peak of precipitation is expected between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. with quantities of water reaching 40 to 80 mm, depending on WeatherSwitzerland. A rise in stream levels, local flooding (underpasses, garages, cellars) as well as landslides are possible.
