After the Mont-Saint-Martin And Beauregardspotlight on the city center of Nemours (Seine-et-Marne)! This is in essence the message that we wish to convey Mayor Valérie Lacroute this fall. “ We’re going all out on the city center, on its business, its housing and its historical heritage, she confirms. We rebuilt Mont Saint-Martin for 100 million euros, Habitat 77 is putting 15 million euros into Beauregard, and in the next 5 to 10 years, we will carry out a project to reconfigure Avenue de .”

And the list of current or future projects clearly demonstrates this ambition. Nemourians have already been able to see this, with the work on the island of Perthuis, almost completed, which has reached an important stage with the famous bypass arm which will allow the city to have an effective anti-flood weapon. (read the Rep of September 16 Editor’s note). Right next door, the Terrace du Moulin will also be given its facelift, with the installation of fixed sheds, to accommodate restaurateurs in good conditions, while negotiations for the restoration and reopening of the hotel are in progress. course.

The Dumée foyer and the media library will be waiting

In terms of visible work, a first renovation project for unsanitary housing is underway at Place Jean-Jaurès, and energy renovation work on the town hall will soon begin.

On the castle-museum side, work is underway to open additional spaces. Just opposite, overlooking the courtyard of the castle, work has begun on the famous creperie desired by the town: “We have given up on the covered terrace for budgetary reasons, but the creperie will have 50 seats and good visibility over the castle. We took the opportunity to redo the roof and the facade. There will be symmetry between the tourist office and this new restaurant,” explains Valérie Lacroute.

Not far from there, the pop-up store, which is very successful and already sold out for the season, will also be modernized and renovated. The church, for its part, will continue its spectacular metamorphosis this year again. The city will soon see the end of this long-term but very important project.

Finally, two projects are in the works, but we will have to wait a little for the first sod to be taken. This is the case of the Dumée home which must be transformed into a residential residence. An explosive case, which provokes the anger of the new association for the defense of Nemours heritage… which risks extending the deadlines, while awaiting court decisions.

The small library, for its part, will become a media library at the end of a very ambitious renovation and extension project on its site, to reach 1,300 m2. But you will have to be patient, it will not happen right away: “It will take at least three years,” warns Valérie Lacroute.
