The scam always starts with a call. The bank number is displayed and a man claiming to be your bank advisor is on the line. Behind this interlocutor hides a crook ready to do anything to empty his victim’s bank account. Leslie Cardot was alerted by a fake bank advisor that her account had been hacked. So that he can counter fraud, he asks him to validate purchases. Gaining confidence and taking things by surprise, she executes. The crooks took 1,500 euros from the young woman, but she is far from being the only victim.

“These people are very good at mental manipulation”, assures Anthony Schmit, also victim of a scam. Their real bank won’t reimburse them. It evokes serious negligence, because customers must absolutely check who their interlocutor is.
