Dakar, April 28 (APS) – The Union of former Senegalese residents of the Special Military School of Saint-Cyr, (Morbihan, France), organized, Sunday, in Dakar, a hike on the theme “Civism and patriotic values,” noted the APS.
“Beyond the association, it is the entire Senegalese Army which invited hikers to come and join it for this exercise which is both physical and fun,” declared General Babacar Gaye, president of the association, regarding the scope of this sporting event.
Faithful to its motto, “solidarity and respect for the memory of elders”, the association pays tribute, each year, to a deceased former +saint-cyrien+, by making him a sponsor of all activities.
For this sixteenth edition, the choice fell on Colonel Aboubacry Ndiaye, an engineering officer, called to God last year.
”He was a great sportsman, a resident of Saint-Cyr, between 1965 and 1967. He was a force of nature, who held the Saint-Cyr weight throw record for a long time,” testified the former leader of general staff of the armies from 2000-2003.
The Union of Senegalese alumni of the Special Military School of Saint-Cyr, commonly called “Saint-cyrienne Senegal”, was created in 2002, at the initiative of the Senegalese +saint-cyriens+ of the first promotions.
It aims to strengthen bonds of camaraderie between its members through the organization of parties or sporting events.
