In his autobiography entitled Small footHonorine Grolier had openly testified to the long fight waged against the Departmental House for Disabled People (MDPH) to have your disability recognized.

The young resident of Machecoul-Saint-Meme did not imagine that she would have to fight again two years later. Always for the same reason, but this time against the Primary health insurance fund of -Atlantique (CPAM).

End of the long-term condition…

Since January 2024, I have been refused renewal of ALD, Long-Term Affection, which allows me not to advance the costs of care linked to my disability, which are substantial and regular.

Honorine Grolier

“He only leaves it to me for ‘major equipment’ and under certain conditions. Excess amounts are not covered, nor are daily dressings in summer for example. »

ALD has been granted to her since she was very young. It was during a consultation with her doctor that she realized the change.

18 operations

“In the letter I received, the CPAM justifies its refusal by ‘medical criteria'”, reports the Machecoulaise who underwent 18 surgical interventions due to one leg being shorter than the other at birth, until to the graft of his ankle in place of his knee.

“How is it possible to make a medical report without seeing me? », she asks.

I’m tired of being just a file number. No one wants to see me to get my opinion on my daily life.

She could tell them that she doesn’t know when she gets up in the morning whether she will have to use her wheelchair. She could also tell them about “constant suffering” and that carrying a bulky binder can “shoot her back”.

Disability denial

On this occasion, she realized that she could also be considered as invalid with the CPAM, in the sense that his illness leads to a reduction in work capacity. This status was refused in September 2022.

“With a disability rate of 80% permanent recognized by the MDPH, which is not going to improve, I should be in category 3 disability, needing the daily help of a third person, and receive a pension” , assures the 26-year-old young woman.

His attending physician and surgeon also supported this request, but they never received a response.

She would like to avoid legal action

Honorine Grolier does not intend to let this happen. Supported by her association, Courir avec, which relays her fight on social networks, she filed a amicable appeal file which must go to committee by the end of May 2024.

All she hopes is to obtain an opinion in her favor so as not to have to take legal action, which would require a waiting period of approximately two years.

But if I have to go before the judge and show him my foot, I will!

“With one foot upside down and no strength in the muscles, my disability is obvious! »
