The Region helps communities: thus, Carole Delga, president of the / Pyrenees-Mediterranean regionrecently brought together in and , the elected representatives of the permanent commission, in order to vote on a package of aid for the thirteen departments of the territory.

In L’Héraulton the proposal of Carole Delga, 268 files will receive regional aid representing a total amount of €9.2 million. Focus on the main projects, with a non-exhaustive list, of course, since we cannot cite them all.

Montpellier

Always more solidarity

Digital, employment, health, budget, culture and citizenship: the Center for Experiments and Social Innovation is a third place offering tailor-made support to people in difficulty. Installed in a former nursery, it is getting a facelift to adapt to users and will be equipped with new services, particularly around quality food for all and welcoming women in difficulty. The project, which will be delivered in June 2025, benefits from regional aid of €250,000.

Béziers

A real campus of life

Since 1996, the Du Guesclin university center constitutes a branch of the University Paul Valéry Montpellier 3, and provides teaching of the same quality. It now wants to expand to increase its offering: master’s degree in school teaching, master 2 in public and political communication, professional licenses in psychology, language sciences, tourism… On 1,650 m², the planned extension will include new rooms courses, a cafeteria, an expanded and connected university library, a social and health center and offices for student associations. Thus, previously non-existent services will boost campus life and that of students, whose number will increase from 960 to 1,340.

The Region has released €2.77 million for the construction of this “sustainable Occitanie building”, in addition to subsidies from the State, the Agglo Béziers Méditerranée and the of Béziers. The architect competition will be launched this year. two years of studies and eighteen months of work, the inauguration is planned for the start of the 2028 school year.

At the school of taste

The municipality benefits from extension work on the school to create a refectory more spacious and functional, equipped with its own kitchen. The chef will prepare 500 lunches per day, consumed on site by kindergarten and elementary school students, or taken to the homes of elderly people or people with reduced mobility. The whole thing will be operational at the start of the 2025 school year. The Region has granted €172,600 to this investment which raises awareness among children about eating well, locally and organically.

After the presbytery, the Notre-Dame-de-Nize chapel and its bell tower, “Little Lourdes of Hérault”, will be restored by 2025, with the assistance of the Region to the tune of €59,000. It is of course a question of preserving this Romanesque Marian sanctuary, nestled in the heart of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park. But it is also about bringing it to life for the benefit of the local economy. The Compagnons du already organize concerts, guided tours, seminars, and have opened a reception shop promoting local products.

Murles

A sober and functional town hall

The town hall which housed the school in 1882 has hardly undergone any transformation since. The council room was condemned because it was difficult to heat. She moved to the multipurpose room where the Region financed a pellet boiler. Renovated, insulated, brought up to accessibility standards and equipped with air-air heating, the freed space will accommodate offices and a meeting room. The Region is providing €17,000 for this energy transformation which also improves public service.

THE quays of the Canal du Midi had remained in their original state since the port was dug in 1987 and they were therefore no longer up to standard or suitable for users, particularly those with reduced mobility. Road remodeled with a draining coating, redone networks, new water and electricity terminals: the port works were supported by the Region to the tune of €99,700. Incidentally, the town, which is aiming for the Grand site de label, anticipates increased tourist numbers.

Lodève

The Fleury island comes back to life

In a classified area of ​​the old center, in Lodève, the wasteland of the Fleury islet covering 750 m², degraded and unsanitary, will benefit from comprehensive rehabilitation. A business and twelve housing units for social home ownership will be built there, part of which will be part of a group housing approach. The Region voted €420,000 for this virtuous project, which will promote deconstruction materials, without harming the heritage aspect. The work, lasting eighteen months, will be launched at the end of this year 2024.

Learn more : as part of the rehabilitation of the city center and the reduction of unsanitary housing, RHI, the City of Lodève plans to rehabilitate the Fleury block, the former Sancho bakery. The building is typical of buildings in the old center of Lodève, with several interlocking buildings, five stairwells, two wells on the ground floor, etc.

The buyer, Territoire34, with the architecture company Lebunetel, will create 8 housing units, as well as a 150m2 business on the ground floor. Territoire 34, in partnership with the city of Lodève and Hab-Fab, offers an original group housing approach intended to encourage, within the framework of a purchase of a main residence through assisted accession, the meeting and organization between neighbors before arrangements.
