The 50e edition of the French Hot Air Balloon Championship will take place in Péronne from August 12 to 17 at the exhibition center. A week where ballooning enthusiasts will be in the spotlight. The best hot air balloon pilots will compete over a week of competition this summer to win the title of Champion of France. There will be around forty crews competing this year.
Six days of celebration at the exhibition center
In addition to the spectacle of the competition over six days with precision, distance, speed and even maneuverability tests, entertainment will also be offered to the public throughout the week. To know : “First flights (by reservation and paying, editor’s note)family activities, exhibitions, workshops and concerts will delight young and old alike, making this event an unforgettable experience for the whole family.” it says on the press kit.
Hot air balloon baptisms
And to continue on the first flights: “First flights in hot air balloons offer a unique perspective on the beauty of the Picardy landscape. Imagine yourself gently floating above lush green fields, winding rivers and picturesque villages, feeling the serenity and wonder of the moment. (…) First flights are accessible to everyone.“
These last around an hour and cost €200. Please note that flights are weather dependent and take place at sunrise or two hours before sunset.
Looking for hosts and volunteers
