Sahara sand will make its return to . A new episode is expected in France from Sunday April 28, 2024.

According to a map shared by meteorologist Guillaume Séchet, founder of the site meteo-villes.com, the east of France is affected by a new surge of Saharan dust.

But to what extent precisely, and particularly in Lorraine? The meteorologist responds to Lorraine News.

A rise of sand from the Sahara rather from Monday

Guillaume Séchet explains that the phenomenon could happen from Sunday on the region, but in a very light way. “There is a low pressure axis which is going up from the Iberian Peninsula to the British Isles and which will go up from the PACA region and the Alps to the north-east of France,” he introduces.

According to the founder of meteo-villes.com, Saharan dust should instead arrive Monday in Lorraine. “There will not be a very significant quantity of sand, but there is a risk of sandy deposits,” he warns.

From Tuesday, “there should be a combination sand and precipitation,” estimates Guillaume Séchet. The dispersion of sand towards northern Europe should occur during the day on Wednesday.

Risk of storms expected?

The precipitation forecast for Tuesday could lead to thunderstorms, according to Guillaume Séchet. “Storms could develop locally,” he specifies.

The highest risk would be between Tuesday and Wednesday at this point. “This will cause temperatures to rise, then they should drop again in the middle of the week when the risk of storms fades,” adds the founder of meteo-villes.com.
