The instigator of the Regroupement des personnes expropriées de Forillon et leurs descendants, Marie-Laure , received top honours at the presentation of the Parks Canada Director General’s Awards of Excellence.

The prize in the Spirit of Collaboration category was presented to him on Thursday along with 16 other people from the group and employees of Forillon Park.

A ceremony highlighted the latter’s contribution, which led to exemplary collaborative work with Parks Canada to tell the story and commemorate the people expropriated in the 1970s.

Parks Canada’s Executive Director for Quebec and Nunavut, Hugues Michaud, highlighted Marie-Laure Rochefort’s hard work, which led to the completion of several projects in Forillon Park, including the opening of the Dolbel-Roberts house.

Marie-Laure Rochefort only learned at the ceremony that she would be honored for her dedication. She wanted to pay tribute to the members of the group of which she is no longer a part.
