A violent collision that left several people injured on Thursday, between Saint-Félicien and Saint-Prime, cost the life of a woman who was thrown from her car.
The accident occurred between two vehicles around 1:20 p.m., on Route 169. For reasons that remain to be determined, a man who was driving a van heading south veered out of his lane, hitting a vehicle coming in the opposite direction head-on.
The driver of the van and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The 63-year-old female passenger in the second vehicle was less fortunate.
“She was ejected from the passenger compartment following the impact. She was pronounced dead on the scene,” laments Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Hugues Beaulieu.
It was not possible to determine whether the victim was wearing a seat belt during the collision.
The police force asked motorists to be patient in the area since the road was closed for many hours. A reconstructionist went to the scene to analyze the scene and clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
Although no theory is currently being favoured, those of drink driving or feeling unwell have already been ruled out.
