From mountains to boreal forests! Wild Rose Country is a beautiful place that’s often featured in movies and TV shows. In fact, some of the world’s most beloved production companies keep returning to Alberta with celebrities big and small, and it’s left a lasting impression.

Over the years, many familiar faces have spoken enthusiastically about the landscape, the people and the food.

Here are some of the travelers who enjoyed their stay in the province and its surroundings.

Lamorne Morris

“It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been,” Morris once told Jimmy Kimmel, adding that he appears desolate in Fargo, the series he filmed in and around the area.

“It’s so cold, there’s so much snow, and there’s so many cowboys for some reason. They’re just walking around like cowboys.”

Luke Combs

Alberta loves country music, and country music loves Alberta.

In 2023, Luke Combs raved about a trip he took to Alberta with his wife Nicole, during which they drove from Calgary to Banff.

“It’s the craziest drive, 20 minutes from Calgary, it turns into the most Rocky Mountain thing you’ve ever seen,” he told Joe Rogan on his podcast,The Joe Rogan Experience.

“It’s out of control man, I mean I’ve never seen anything like it.”

During an interview on the show filmed in Alberta Under the banner of heaven, Andrew Garfield also praised the province.

“Man, I loved it, I really really loved Calgary and I love Alberta,” he said.

“I love the people, I loved the restaurants, I loved the food – the nature,” adding that he even took a “crazy cold” swim in Lake Louise.

“I was like, why isn’t anyone else doing this… and then I jumped up and I was like – oh, now I understand why isn’t anyone else doing this. It’s really, really cold.

Pedro Pascal

We can safely say that Pedro Pascal is an Alberta fan.

HBO star The last of us, which was filmed in and around the province, Pascal was quoted several times speaking about his time in Calgary, Edmonton and Canmore.

“A big thank you to Canada, I love Canada – take me back,” he once said in an interview with eTalk.

It’s also worth noting that the actor once wore Calgary-themed socks during a public outing and happily recounted how he first saw the Northern Lights while in the province.

Juno Temple

As a star of Fslang Season 5, Juno Temple spent a lot of time in and around Calgary in 2023.

She also had the chance to see the Northern Lights and shared an incredible story on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“I came home and it was just by chance after a day of work. It was about 9 o’clock and on the other side of the picture, if I had panned out, you would have seen there was an incredible moon and star, which is what I had noticed initially,” she told the host.

“Then the driver said to me, ‘Juno, look up,’ and I was like, holy shnikes!”

Daisy Edgar Jones

So much love in one interview!

During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James CordenActress Daisy Edgar-Jones has spoken about her time in Alberta while filming Under the banner of heaven.

Sitting next to Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) Edgar-Jones practically lit up talking about Banff – which she said “was the most beautiful place” before completely roasting her name and even mentioning this Calgary restaurant. Modèle Lait was a personal favourite.

Jon Hamm and Joe Keery

Juno Temple wasn’t the only one sharing a very Alberta experience with her fans.

Fargo, actors Joe Keery (Stranger Things) and Jon Ham (Mad Men), were once spotted at a Flames game supporting the team, and they seemed to be having a good time.

During this time, they even took pictures with the fans between periods!

“Albertans are very good people,” he said, sharing his excitement about the Flames’ November victory on social media.

Come back whenever you want, Gabriel!

Bill Burr

Although it may have been love, comedian Bill Burr once recalled a performance he gave in the city of Calgary, calling us a rowdy bunch.

Burr called Calgary the “craziest crowd” he’s ever had and he even talked about how beautiful it is for over a minute.

“In Calgary, we are fucking animals at this place! Animals!”

Belle Ramsay

An active presence on social media, Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Catherine known as Birdy) is also a big fan of the region.

“CALGARY I can’t believe how much I missed you,” the powerhouse artist once wrote. Additionally, Ramsey posted several photos from a shoot in the area with captions reflecting what a “beautiful sunny, cold country” the Great White North is.

Tate McRae

Pop icon Tate McRae is another celebrity who has spoken highly of Alberta, even naming a song after the town where she grew up.

Originally from Calgary, Tate couldn’t contain her excitement as she kicked off the North American leg of her tour in YYC.

“MY FIRST SHOW IN MY HOMETOWN. I couldn’t be more proud to be from Calgary and I couldn’t be more grateful for all your support. It was awesome, love you guys, thank you.”

Nick Offerman

“I would move to Calgary in a heartbeat.”

Actor and comedian Nick Offerman once told the Calgary Herald that the city has it all, and we agree.

No matter the time of day or time of year, there is so much to explore, see and do.

This is quite a special place!

Tegan and Sara

Local heroes!

Alternative pop duo Tegan and Sara are also big fans of Alberta, specifically Calgary, where they grew up. In fact, they wrote and produced an entire show about their upbringing in the city, aptly named High school, which was filmed primarily in Crescent Heights.
