The species is installed more specifically at the Tervuren Arboretum, in Flanders, and occasionally makes furtive appearances in the Brussels region.
In 2019, one wild boar was observed by Brussels Environment, 8 in 2020, a group in 2022 and 6 in 2023. “This information should be taken with a grain of salt, as it is simply observations; they do not reflect the state of the population in the regional territory”, indicated the minister, conceding that “the pressure on the Brussels region inevitably increases”. No serious incident was noted.
