La peña Jeune Aficion organizes its 40the Cultural and bullfighting week, from October 4 to 13, 2024, with conferences, shows, cinema sessions and festive days. Here is the program of the week with, to close, a novillada without picador on Sunday, October 13. Friday, October 4, at 9 p.m., flamenco, Carlos de Jacoba, “Cante y toque”; Saturday, October 5, at 7 p.m., opening of Toro expo; Sunday, October 6, at 10:30 a.m., Spanish hostel with the participation of six peñas.
Monday, October 7, at 8:15 p.m., Media 7 cinema, film “Nimeño II, au bout d’une passion”; Thursday, October 10, at 9 p.m., Zocato conference; Friday, October 11, at 9 p.m., conference on “40 years of bullfighting” with F. Wolff, C. Abella, J. Mora, O. Mageste, H. Touya and O. Martin. Saturday, October 12, at 12 p.m., tapas meal; at 4 p.m., course landaise. Sunday, October 13, at 11 a.m., apéritif; at 1 p.m., aficion meal; at 4:30 p.m., novillada without picador with six erales from El Palmeral for Jesus Iglesias, Julio Mendez and Baptiste Angosto; at 7 p.m., tertulia.

Morante definitively ends his season
Morante de la Puebla has decided to end his 2024 season. His mental health has just worsened again. He had already stopped for a few weeks last June and was absent from the bullring until July. He had made his reappearance in Santander. After his absence in Linares and Tomelloso, Morante de la Puebla paraded in Palencia and only the rain prevented him from doing so in Tarazona. After his last-minute withdrawal in Valladolid, the Sevillian has not been seen again.
According to the Spanish newspaper, ABC, the Sevillian would end his season and would not make his last paseo in Seville on Sunday 29 in Seville.
Manuel Roman leaves the profession of bullfighter
Winner of the Bolsin de Bougue in 2021, Manuel Roman was one of the best novilleros on the circuit. After 18 novilladas fought this season, he is leaving the profession with immediate effect. Particularly at ease in front of Montalvo’s novillos in Soustons last August, he had won over the aficion. It is a real earthquake in the novillada world.
Manuel Roman explains his decision by a certain weariness and mental difficulties in a press release: “After a few years of dedication and sacrifices for the most beautiful profession in the world, it is with great sorrow that I announce today my indefinite withdrawal. I never dreamed of reaching such a level of interest, and even less this moment where I bow out with the deep sadness that I feel so prematurely. However, the circumstances and my morale have not been able to overcome what could have been, for me, a historic season.”
Lartet Festival on October 5th
The Lartet festival will take place on October 5, in Plaisance-du-Gers, at the Lartet arenas. On the program, at 10:30 a.m., coffee reception; at 11 a.m., tentadero with two Lartet cows for Solalito and a new cow for initiation to bullfighting.
