A 29-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday, September 6, for drugging, harassing and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl he was babysitting.
After four hours of closed-door debates and 50 minutes of deliberations, the Meaux court sentenced a 29-year-old man to eight years in prison on Friday, September 6, reports Le Parisien.
The individual was found guilty of drugging, harassing and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl, whom he was babysitting. After his sentence, the accused was immediately incarcerated.
During the trial, the deputy prosecutor had requested a five-year sentence. In view of the facts, the magistrates decided to increase the sentence with an additional three years of imprisonment.
Victim filmed topless
The young victim’s ordeal began last spring, when her parents hired the accused as a babysitter. During one of these shifts, the man, a resident of northern Seine-et-Marne, drugged the child with a sleeping pill before caressing her back and thigh and filming her. A recording that he kept on his phone. He also insisted that the little girl take off her pants and tried to kiss him.
After these crimes, the man decided to harass the minor and her parents by hanging around their home and around the girl’s school. During his trial, it was also revealed that the man had sent numerous text messages to the family.
Ordered to pay 15,600 euros to victims
After the instant messages, the man wrote a letter and left objects in the garden of the family home to involve the family in a sort of “perverse treasure hunt”, as reported by Le Parisien. The man ended up being taken into custody on Thursday, September 5, to be tried the next day in immediate appearance. The convicted man, in addition to being registered in the sex offenders’ file, will have to pay both parents and the little girl a total of 15,600 euros.
