While she gave her all on each of her stage performances in season 2 of “Drag Race France”, the first edition of which crowned drag queen Paloma, Moon decided to leave the show at the end of the 6th episode broadcast Friday August 4, 2023, after the “Ball” event on the theme “Queen of the high school ball”. Facing the jury, the 31-year-old transgender from Geneva explained with some emotion that she wanted to focus on her mental health because she could no longer bear the pressure linked to this drag-queen competition. “It was the best decision to make. I realized that I no longer had enough fun to continue,” says Ava Matthey, her real name, to the French edition of “20 minutes”.
The one who considers herself a “mystical creature” also wanted to send an important message by stopping her adventure on France 2. “I have the impression that we forget that we are humans with these entertainment and reality TV shows, she says. We too have the right not to be well. We may be on TV and do lots of entertaining things for people, but it’s still difficult and intense for us. It’s completely normal to talk about mental health and I find it pretty crazy that it’s still so taboo.”
