Thomas Sotto reframed for his first appearance on RTL Matin: “I’m not sulking!” (VIDEO)

After his surprise departure from Telematin – which occurred when he had just been accused by former and current collaborators of the France 2 morning show of being “tyrannical” with his teams -, Thomas Sotto took over the management of RTL.

He was chosen to replace Yves Calvi at the presentation of RTL Morning. Along with Amandine Bégot, he orchestrated its first edition this Thursday, August 29, 2024. Shortly before 8 a.m., the one to whom Julien Arnaud will succeed in Telematin interviewed Olivier Faure. The latter was questioned, from Blois where the Socialist Party is holding its Summer Universities, on the political crisis shaking France.

The country is still waiting for the appointment of a new Prime Minister. The New Popular Front, born from an alliance between the Socialist Party, Europe Ecologie-Les Verts and La France Insoumise during the legislative elections, put forward the candidacy of Lucie Castets. A path that was rejected by Emmanuel Macron. Since then, France has been at an impasse…

Olivier Faure gets annoyed after a question from Thomas Sotto in RTL Morning

Thomas Sotto wanted Olivier Faure to respond to comments made by Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, socialist mayor of Rouen. “This week, after Emmanuel Macron’s refusal to appoint Lucie Castets to Matignon, you have decided to boycott the meetings at Matignon. How long are you going to adopt this empty chair policy?”he threw at him.

A remark that the First Secretary of the Socialist Party did not support. I’m not sulking ! This is a way of summarizing my position or the position of those who belong to the New Popular Front in a somewhat…”he reframed his interlocutor before the latter interrupted him: “These are not my words, they are those of Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, socialist mayor of Rouen!”.

“We can’t just sit back and sulk in our corner”quoted the new host of RTL Morning. To which Olivier Faure replied, annoyed: “Yes but you don’t have to take them back because no one is sulking ! The reality is that there is no negotiation!”The First Secretary of the Socialist Party then hammered home that he was ready to negotiate with Emmanuel Macron, whom he accused of being “stepped out of his role”.
