Jey Uso became Main Event Jey while his brother, Jimmy was out with a knee injury. The Bloodline story really took shape around this time when Jey joined Roman Reigns after losing his match for the WWE Universal Championship. Jimmy did not return to full-time competition until May 2021, more than a year after his injury.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani of “BT Sport”, Jimmy reflected on the period when Jey was solo following his injury.
He declares :
“It was harder than I thought. I sat at home, I was injured, I sat quiet for the first time in my career and watched my brother accelerate his career, it was something very new for me. Watching him develop as a solo character inspired me. We’re the Usos, but there’s Jey and Jimmy. We could see Jey develop. I got goosebumps being at home and watching what happened. I remember sitting at home with the brace and watching what was going on. Sitting on the other side as a fan, at home and in front of the TV, I saw him, I saw Roman, when the world stopped and these brothers raised the level of the game and showed what was possible. In the ThunderDome at the time, the whole business changed drastically. We went from a live energy to a zoning and a direct feeling of these emotions. We are having fun like never before in our career. We tapped into something different, something that reorganized us. We have improved. It’s an honor to come in after an injury, to add to what’s going on and make it the best thing in the world of wrestling. »
Jey Usos achieved a feat this weekend during Money in the Bank, in fact, after more than 3 years of invincibility, he pinned Roman Reigns. He then won the victory with his brother, Jimmy, in the Bloodline civil war. Will he have a solo push again and rip off his cousin’s belt? We will have to watch the next SmackDown for the answer.
