Adele announces ‘incredibly’ long career break

After years spent mainly on stage, the singer emotionally confides her desire to move away from the spotlight.

Adele will be missed by her fans. On Saturday, August 31, while performing the last of her ten exceptional concerts in Munich, the British singer announced the upcoming start of an “incredibly” long break from her career.

The interpreter ofEasy On Me is due to return to the stage in Las Vegas from October 25th to give the last ten concerts of his residency, Weekends with Adele“But after that, I won’t see you for an incredibly long time,” she announced to her Munich fans on Saturday:

“I just need to rest,” she said, tears in her voice. “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and now I want to live it.”

Wedding in sight

Adele’s private life has undergone major upheavals during this period: the singer, in a relationship with entrepreneur Simon Konecki since 2011, filed for divorce in 2019. Together they had a son, named Angelo, born in 2012. Adele has now been in a relationship with American sports agent Rich Paul since 2021. Last month, in the middle of a concert, she announced plans to get married.

At the same time, the superstar has been pursuing her career at a cracking pace. She released her fourth album, 30in 2021. A global hit (best start of the year in the United States, best-selling album of the year in the United Kingdom) that she has been defending on stage at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas since 2022.

His ten concerts in Munich took place in a spectacular temporary stadium built specifically for these shows, consisting of a giant screen measuring 220 metres by 30 and welcoming 75,000 people each evening.

“I will miss you terribly”

“I’ve really enjoyed performing for almost three years now,” she said Saturday. “This is the first time I’ve performed for this long, and probably the last.”

“I will cherish you in my heart throughout this break, and I will dream of these concerts,” she concluded. “I will miss you terribly.”

This is not Adele’s first break; no less than six years have passed between her third album and her fourth.
