The electric cars of the ID range have been specially redesigned for the emblematic characters. In addition, the appearance of a mysterious electric Beetle raises questions about a possible resurrection of this legendary model.
The wait is over! The first feature film in the hit franchise, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, hits the big screen on July 5, 2023, before delighting fans on Netflix on July 28, 2023. And to make that experience even more exciting , ZAG and Mediawan Kids & Family, the film’s co-producers, have teamed up with Volkswagen to bring the character cars to life.
Electric cars from the ID range have been carefully selected and transformed for the occasion. Thus, Chat Noir will slip behind the wheel of a VW ID.4, while Gabriel Agreste and Tom Dupain will respectively drive a VW ID. Vizzion and an ID. buzz.
But it was Ladybug’s car that caught our attention. An electric Beetle, still at the concept car stage according to the German manufacturer. Could this be a clue for a future VW ID. Ladybug ? This concept does exist outside of the film, and we even managed to photograph it when it was parked on Avenue Montaigne, in front of the Hotel Plaza Athénée, in Paris.
This concept looks surprisingly like the legendary Volkswagen Beetle, which had disappeared from the radar for a few years. Could the Wolfsburg brand bring it back to life in the form of an electric vehicle, after giving life to the mythical Combi of modern times (ID. Buzz)? The future may hold some nice surprises for us!
“From the very beginning of the incredible journey of making this film, working with Volkswagen has always felt very natural to us. Our two brands have many values in common. Transmitting these values to make the world a better place is also our responsibility as producers,” said Aton Soumache and Emmanuel Jacomet, producers of the film. “Ladybug and Cat Noir embody the advent of a new generation, and their cars in the film perfectly illustrate this modernity. In my opinion, there is an essential message to convey: we must take care of our environment in order to be able to live tomorrow in a better world”adds Jérémy Zag, director of the film.
