Montreal in light: roles of extras still available

It is a street show that has become essential every summer, for almost twenty years. A few months before its next edition, the Collectif Montréal en Lumière will soon put itself in working order, on the occasion of its general assembly, on February 7, 2025.

Each year, Montreal en Light strives to narrate the history of the small medieval village and to enhance its heritage. The show takes the form of a stroll mixing actors and extras in costumes, in the middle of sets made by volunteers.

Roles of available extras

The theme of the show is already known for 2025. It will be a question of telling the vow of Anéric, at the origin of the construction of the Montreal collegiate church. “In 1136, Lord Anéric went on a crusade. He then promised to build a collegiate church in Montreal if he came back alive, ”rewinds Laurent Verin, president of the association.

To tell the rich story of Montreal, the collective relies on an important pool of volunteers: almost eighty certain evenings, counting actors, extras and technicians. The association is therefore in permanent search for new living forces, says Laurent Verin: “an association lives on its ability to renew itself and bring new members”.

If the main roles have already been allocated, extras are still available for the curious who would like to try the adventure of the performing arts. “You just have to be available for rehearsals, which will take place in the evening the week before the first show,” said the president. Four performances will then take place between July 25 and August 2, 2025. And for the most motivated, it will be “possible to flesh out the roles,” said Laurent Trin.
