Marco Mouly, the “king” of scams, on the run in Israel… where he goes to the barber

Marco Mouly, famous crook involved in several fraud cases, notably that of the carbon tax, is currently on the run in Israel. Targeted by an international arrest warrant since his conviction in last November to three years in prison for “fraud” and “fraudulent organization of insolvency by debtor”, he does not seem to be hiding. As reported by Le Parisien, Marco Mouly makes numerous public appearances in Tel Aviv, where he walks the streets, sits on a terrace and poses for selfies with admirers.

This Wednesday, a Tel Aviv barber posted a video on Instagram showing the 60-year-old getting his hair cut while joking with an Italian customer. An uninhibited behavior which contrasts with the seriousness of the accusations brought against him.

Numerous convictions

In November 2023, Marco Mouly was sentenced in his absence by the Paris judicial court. The judges accused him of having orchestrated his insolvency to escape paying fines linked to his previous convictions. The man had notably transferred the copyright of his book La Cavale to his daughter, even though she had only written the preface. Furthermore, his lavish lifestyle had been singled out while he was in debt to the tax authorities.

Marco Mouly is best known for his role in carbon tax fraud, a scam that cost the French tax authorities 1.6 billion euros and the EU 5 billion euros. With his accomplices, he would have pocketed at least 283 million euros. In 2017, he had already been sentenced on appeal to eight years in prison and a fine of one million euros in this case.
