A colorful and flowery bath of youth. This is what the prolific Japanese artist Takashi Murakami invites us to do for the new collection he imagined for Louis Vuitton.

Twenty years after the first collaboration with the famous leather goods manufacturer, his entire universe is arriving in all the brand’s boutiques. But not only that. On the program: 200 creations, including the reissue of the famous multicolored monogram deployed in 33 different shades.

On the Speedy, Dauphine or Cushion model but also on a silk scarf or a skateboard, or even on certain perfumes, we discover a Superflat Panda or flower smiles, for example. Note also that these manga creatures created in 2003 with Marc Jacobs, then artistic director of Louis Vuitton, were kawaii long before the term became commonplace!

To bring these creations to life, an immersive visual environment was developed. In Paris for example, on the Champs-Élysées, in its flagshipa cinema was installed in the atrium. Customers can discover remastered versions of the artist’s films “Superflat Monogram” and “Superflat First Love”.

Who else but Zendaya to front the new campaign? The famous fashion photographer couple Inez & Vinoodh immortalized it, mixing the collection’s key pieces with Murakami’s whimsical universe.

At the same time, at the beginning of December, a new statue of the artist was inaugurated at the Jardin d’Acclimation, opposite the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. It’s “Flower, Parent and Child,” a sculptural golden piece that rises 13 meters atop a colorful trunk, inspired by Murakami’s first collection.
