Carnival will color the streets of Auray on April 5. On this occasion, the Les Coraux association, which works jointly with the town hall on the project, will host “the crazy Guinguette”. An event at Place Ussel that the organizers want to be “festive, burlesque, intergenerational and friendly”.
Include the audience
In addition to holding a concert and setting up a tavern, the association wants to offer performances in the afternoon and evening. To do this, she calls on artists, who would propose an installation or performance in tandem. “We want to mix disciplines,” explains Élise Le Du-Motais, event manager for the association. We can imagine a visual artist and a musician, an art craftsman and a dancer, an illustrator and a trumpeter…”.
These performances or installations must include the public, either before the carnival or on D-Day, “whether with the creation of costumes, masks, choreography…” continues the events manager. They must also have a link with the theme of this year’s carnival, “Chick of all kinds”, in reference to Claude Ponti, children’s author whose work will be presented at Athéna on April 23.
-Meeting on January 31
A meeting as part of the Apéros Réso is offered by Les Coraux on January 31, at Bar Breton, in Brec’h, to help create tandems. “It’s an opportunity for artists who are alone, but interested in the project, to come and meet us and make connections,” adds Julien Mandart, co-president of Les Coraux. A way, for the Alrean association with 45 members and 150 volunteers, to allow live performance artists and craftspeople in the region to shape a network. Artist duos already composed can apply online until February 12.
A collegial jury will then be responsible for selecting several tandems for the big day. “There is no age limit,” concludes Élise Le Du-Motais. Artists and artisans of all kinds are welcome.”
