Between presence and absence, disappearance and appearance, his works have something elusive, a mysterious cycle which has its alchemy. Captivated by the touch of paint » from a very young age, discovering The poet’s garden of Van Gogh, Pauline Bazignan then received the “ shock of abstract Art » with Kandinsky. First a fan of drawing and always “ ultra demanding » with herself, she willingly indulges in an experimental practice that leads her down unexpected paths.
An art of flow
Before entering the Beaux-Arts, she tirelessly painted Saint George slaying the dragonthen addresses tachism in a very free relationship with painting. In 1997, at the Jeu de Paume, she was “ fascinated by the brush stroke » by Lee Ufan, a real revelation. The genesis of his very personal universe will be born from the flow of paint, like the “ seeds that germinate » on large sheets of paper where the stem flows naturally, and the corolla blossoms into a tulip. “I told myself that I had to bloom, like flowers “. Always a perfectionist, she then washes her paints until the pigment almost disappears.

Rewriting through disappearance
From erasure to rebirth, his work always evolves from this flow that has become “ almost a planet, something round, circular which rotated like a life which absolutely must rotate “. In counterpoint, his sculptures rely on an idea of subtraction, with casts from orange peel becoming ceramics. Captured by the power of Battle of San Romano of Ucello, she reinterprets her three panels in painting, before becoming passionate about The Storm of Giorgione, then The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, which refocuses it on perspective. And in this almost cosmic cycle, the result of metamorphoses, everything comes together.
