“Welcome to my roots”, a documentary on the Moroccan origins of Jeff Hamilton, the designer to the stars in the United States

Jeff Hamilton is one of the big names in fashion. Famous for his iconic handmade leather jackets, which have become symbols of luxury and innovation, the man nicknamed “the designer to the stars” has dressed the biggest names in the world of sport and American showbiz, from Michael Jordan to Kobe Bryant, including Michael Jackson and Madonna.

From his humble beginnings in Casablanca to international success, his journey is remarkable in more than one way. And it is through the lens of director David Serero that he reveals himself, in the documentary Welcome to my rootswhich sounds like a triumphant return to his Moroccan origins, forty years after leaving his native land.

«Even if I left Morocco, Morocco never left me», Confides Jeff Hamilton in front of the camera, posing proudly next to the Moroccan flag or revealing a photo in which he poses alongside King Hassan II. “Are you a real Moroccan?” we ask him. “I always have been», he retorts with a smile.

From Casablanca to Marrakech, via other emblematic cities, Jeff Hamilton reconnects with his original Morocco. A journey rich in emotions which reveals the profound influence of the country on its art.

Interspersed with exclusive testimonies from celebrities who have worked with him – LeBron James, DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg, Constantin Brabus, Ugo Mozie, Fengchen Wang, Mani Nordine -, the documentary “is not just the story of a designer, it is a quest for identity, creativity and unwavering links with his roots», Comments director and producer David Serero.

After a world premiere screening during fashion week on January 24, 2025, the documentary Welcome to my Roots will be screened in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Marrakech and Casablanca.
