“The Life of Things”, published by La Veilleuse in January 2024 from the pen of Marc Agron, was acclaimed by the public. The announcement of the winner took place during the award ceremony on Monday January 20, 2025 at the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, in the presence of the godmother of the Prize, Marina Rollman, and the 5 authors of this 11e Selection.
In “The Life of Things”, Lausanne author Marc Agron tells the story of Yann Mendelec, a successful author who fell into oblivion. Between Paris and New York, the latter is ready to make many sacrifices to regain fame, but at what cost? This suspense novel, enriched with numerous references, is also a social satire which questions, among other things, the literary environment, an exploration of the psychology of the characters and a tribute to literature.
Marc Agron was born in Zagreb and has lived in Switzerland since he was 19. He specialized in old books and opened the Univers bookstore and gallery in Lausanne, which he still runs. He organizes contemporary art exhibitions there and publishes catalogs of old books. For several years, the author has devoted most of his time to writing and “The Life of Things” is his 4e roman.
