Juliette Trey will be the first woman to head the Fabre museum in Montpellier since its opening in 1828

Juliette Trey will succeed curator Michel Hilaire, in office for more than three decades.

In May 2025, Michel Hilaire will end his lease at the head of the Fabre museum in Montpellier, he who has been its curator since… 1992. We now know who will take over. This is Juliette Trey.

Versailles and Trianon

“General curator of heritage, she will take charge of the Fabre museum in Montpellier in May 2025.explains the Métropole, which highlights a rich CV: her career took her to the National Museum of the Palaces of Versailles and Trianon at the National Institute of Art History (INHA), where until then she directed the department of studies and research (deputy director from 2019 to 2024, interim director in 2024), including the department of graphic arts at the Louvre Museum.

“Juliette Trey has also curated numerous exhibitions within prestigious institutions: the inaugural exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, but also exhibitions at the royal castle in Warsaw or at the Nantes Museum of Arts and of course at the museum of the Louvre.” Juliette Trey becomes the first woman to direct the Fabre museum since its opening to the public in 1828.
