IHe will be responsible for continuing the development of health solutions, strengthening strategic partnerships and contributing to the transformation of the Moroccan health system.
He succeeds Dr Sanaa Sayagh, recently appointed to a management position at Roche in Indonesia.
With over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. El Mekaoui has expertise in business strategy, sales, marketing and medical affairs, acquired in regions including North Africa, the Middle East and the Central and Eastern Europe.
A doctor by training, he also holds a Master’s degree in Biopharmaceutical Management from the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP-EAP).
Within Roche Maroc, he held positions as Director of Sales and Marketing as well as Director of Commercial Operations.
These functions allowed him to work on initiatives aimed at improving access to treatments and integrating innovative approaches in the field of health.
At the same time, Dr. El Mekaoui is President of the association Les Entreprises du Médicament au Maroc (LEMM), which reflects his commitment to the development of the pharmaceutical sector and collaboration with health stakeholders.
For his new mission, Dr. El Mekaoui stressed that assuming the management of Roche Maroc is an important responsibility. “I am determined to continue to develop our presence in the biopharmaceutical sector while promoting better access to treatments for Moroccan patients.”

This appointment is part of our approach to promoting local skills and supporting their development in leadership roles,” said Maturin Tchoumi, head of the Africa region, Pharma at Roche.
For her part, Silvia Barceleiro, Head of the International Pharma Group at Roche, assured that Dr. El Mekaoui has an in-depth understanding of the Moroccan health system and expertise in implementing suitable solutions.
“His role will be essential in responding to the challenges of the sector and strengthening initiatives in favor of sustainable health systems.”
This transition is part of Roche Maroc’s commitment to innovate in health and guarantee equitable access to care.
