Something to surprise more than one person. Bruce Dickinson, singer of the heavy metal group Iron Maiden, participated “discreetly” in a fencing competition on Sunday January 19, in Faches-Thumesnil (North), reports “ici Nord” (ex-France Bleu).
More than 20 nationalities were represented during this event, which is one of the largest European competitions for the veteran category. Bruce Dickinson has been fencing for 50 years. When he was younger, he even trained alongside the British Olympic team.
Between two fights, the 66-year-old singer took the time to meet the mayor of the town, Patrick Proisy, who paid tribute to him on the social network Facebook: “This shows the seriousness and reputation of our fencing club! Congratulations to the leaders and volunteers“, he said. The municipal police were also present to secure this prestigious visit.
