“I have done everything over the last six months to keep this matter private. You didn't have to endure the painful separation […] » This sentence, spoken in a deep but firm voice, is not that of parents in the middle of a divorce speaking to their children. It introduces one of the most popular YouTube videos in France in recent days: Sylvain Levy's response to his former collaborator, Pierre Chabrier. The two previously hosted the Vilebrequin channel but also the French version of the show “Top Gear”, two programs devoted to their business: automobile passion.
With another 2.47 million subscribers, Vilebrequin has built a business since 2017 thanks to humorous videos mixing challenges and insane DIY of all types of cars. In December 2023, it's time to leave the road: a first video announces the end of this “Car Jackass”, in rather peaceful terms between the two hosts.
However, in the summer of 2024, Pierre Chabrier published a murderous video in which he notably accused Sylvain Levy of having bought a sum “devalued” the flagship of their work and their reputation: a Fiat Multipla transformed and renamed the “1000tipla”. Sylvain Levy's response was slow to come, but he ended up reopening hostilities on January 9. For 54 relentless minutes, the YouTuber methodically and mercilessly dismantles the ” lies “ from his former friend, relying on letters and archive images… In turn, Pierre Chabrier counterattacks the next day in a live video on Twitch.
