It is an invitation to free the mind through the body. The Naive New Beaters concert, Wednesday January 22, 2025, at Magic Mirrors, Havre (Seine-Maritime)promises to be supercharged.

Previous album in 2019, FVTVRVM was released in 2024. What took so long?
David Boring : It must be said that there was a small pandemic which slowed things down a bit. We needed the desire to get back to it straight away, we also wanted to do something we liked, to find the time to recompose. We didn’t have time to turn the previous page so we had to write another one.

Do you devote a specific amount of time to the creation process or do you do it on the road during tours?
On each tour we tell ourselves that we are going to create a mobile studio, so we have a computer in a suitcase which is dedicated to that, but in the end we don’t record much. Make pieces between two scales? We have the will to do it but we don’t really succeed. We’re doing our tour, it’s good to just live this moment. When I shoot, I’m there for that, not to go towards the future. We were in a mood where we wanted to enjoy everything, rather than rushing and doing nothing thoroughly. We prefer to live each moment to the fullest.

The title of your album takes us back to the past, even ancient times…
It’s a way of saying “we look at the past with respect for what has been done”, but the title also means future. There aren’t many groups that started at the same time as us. There is pride in that. We have been here for 20 years. We look to the future. There is a reference to a modern peplum in the album.

Which corresponds with your visual of ancient, moving statues…
A moving statue, yes. It’s paradoxical. We freeze a movement at a given moment.

Listen to Naive New Beaters:

Compared to your beginnings, you enlisted the services of two musicians on stage. What extra does this give you?
It was a desire to surround yourself with girls and to have a different side live. We’re just three friends making music together. We think it’s cool and we kept the formula. There’s a different touring mood.

When you look in the retro, what do you see?
You have a smile when you look back, there’s something fun we feature in our song Started as a Joke. It presents the story well. It made us fun to make music, it occupied our time. It was a bit of a joke. It’s both cool and funny that we lasted this long. All three of us have evolved in the group, but it’s cool to be back on stage, doing merchandising, making music videos…
