IMA Comedy Club 2025, humor without borders comes to the IMA

Each year, the Arab World Institute (IMA) celebrates this art with its flagship event, the IMA Comedy Club, which returns in 2025 for an even more ambitious 6th edition, from January 29 to February 2.

Stand-up, insolent, connected and committed, is one of the forms of expression closest to the realities of the contemporary world. The IMA Comedy Club 2025 wants to demonstrate the exceptional vitality of the comedy scene

A varied and ambitious program

This 6th edition includes galas and individual shows in French and Arabic, offering a panorama of humor without borders. The programming extends beyond the walls of the IMA, with events at La Cave d’, a partner venue.

  • Workshops for young talents : Led by Tarik Seddak, former artistic director of Studio Bagel and the Jamel Comedy Club, and Christine Berrou, comedian, these workshops allow young people from Argenteuil to learn the basics of stand-up. These apprentice comedians will have the opportunity to take the stage of the IMA during the opening evening.
  • Monthly open mics : Organized at La Cave d’Argenteuil. These open stages offer all comedy fans a chance to perform in front of an audience.
  • An opening gala not to be missed : On Wednesday January 29 at 8 p.m., the IMA auditorium will host an exceptional evening with Sofiane Soch, Samy Bel, Lilia Benchabane, Imen Lahmar, Djamel Oudny and Youness Hanifi.
  • 100% Arabic-speaking meetings : These sessions will highlight the vitality of the Arab comedy scene. On Thursday January 30, Abdelkader Secteur will present his new show Hello in Algerian dialect, followed, on Saturday February 1, by Globally Local by Mohamed Helmy, a rising stand-up figure in the Middle East.
  • A closing in apotheosis : On Sunday February 2 at 5 p.m., Hakim Jemili will present his show Fatiguewhich promises to conclude the festival with emotions and above all humor.
Talents to discover

This edition will also highlight comedians from diverse cultures, embodying humor without borders:

  • Sofiane Soch : A former journalist converted into a comedian, he has distinguished himself in emblematic places such as the Jamel Comedy Club. Winner of the first season of Comedy Class in 2024, he stands out for his energetic style and punchy punchlines.
  • Imen Lahmar : With his show Of (un)controlled originthis comedian explores the cultural clashes between Frenchness and other identities. His performances at the Petit Palais des Glaces confirm his rise.
  • Youness Hanifi : Originally from Lorraine, he shares with self-deprecation the trials of his life in his show 7 vies.
A booming French- and Arabic-speaking scene

The IMA Comedy Club 2025 once again demonstrates the exceptional vitality of the comedy scene. Under the artistic direction of Ianis Cucco and Tarik Seddak, accompanied by Ouarda Benlaala, this edition promises to be a highlight of the cultural season.
