Gazelle de Val faces her destiny

This time the time has come. Whether it is the best harnessed trotters of the moment on January 26 in the Prix d’Amérique or, this Sunday, the mounted champions in the Cornulier, they are facing their objective of the year. Regarding the world championship under the saddle, we speak of “they”, but the pronoun “elles” would be more appropriate as the females present, before the event, profiles likely to follow in the footsteps of their illustrious ancestors such as thatEsperanza Idole, Flame of the Goutier, Bahia Quesnot to name only the most recent winners. Among them, Cédric Bloquet’s favorite, who is progressing at great speed with age. “In seven outings, Gazelle de Val (5) has not yet found anyone to block his path to victory, indicates his trainer Eric Lambertz. “She is progressing all the time and makes me happy. This Cornulier is the icing on the cake. She certainly won but our opponents will be much more ready this time. We’ll see if she can beat them again.” Ridden by a man in great shape, Mathieu Mottier, she seems capable of playing leading roles, like the talented Joumba de Guez (8), who will also have the chance to be associated with a great rider, in the person of Éric Raffin. The last three performances ofIdeal Oak (17) while being unshod on all four feet resulted in three victories. It’s D-day in this configuration! An outstanding trainer, Joël Hallais will be presenting in a few hours Rib Swallow (16) but above all the winner of the Prix de Normandie and the Prix Bilibili (both in 2023) Ina you Rib (13), distrust… The history written Jezabelle Bie (2) is quite fantastic, where will it stop? Reassuring, Edition Géma (15), the richest Blue Granvillaise (18) et Jasmine de Vau (1) will rather be seen for places.

The 100% Quinté+ show: Romain Porée opts for Bazire Joumba de Guez

In front of the camera, Romain Porée chose to slip into the lead with the same first two as our forecaster Cédric Bloquet, but in reverse order. He explains this to you here in this really very open Cornulier.

Joumba de Guez (8) : “This girl Quomba of Guez is a very good mare from Ecurie Vautors. She has raced on a mounted trot seven times since the start of her career, with two victories and three runners-up (2nd or 3rd). She shone at the highest level, notably lastly by winning the Prix Léon Tacquet in style on January 4 (1’12”2 on Sunday’s course). She will be barefoot on all four feet this time. It’s my favorite.”

Gazelle de Val (5) : “Seven races, seven victories since her debut under the saddle in in 2024. She passed the stages four by four and arrived at the highest level by winning in style in the Prix du Calvados (Cornulier Races Q3) under the rides Mathieu Mottier. It’s a very good candidacy which brings a lot of spice to this Prix de Cornulier.”

Ideale du Chêne (17): “Superb mare, spearhead of Julien Le Mer and the Guedj family, who could have already won a Prix de Cornulier as her performance last year was so interesting (third). Victorious in 1’11” of the Prix Jules Lemonnier on the 2,175 meters of the main track, it is just as efficient, or even a little better on the long courses. This is looking good for her.”

Ina du Rib (13) : “This very good mare has not been unshod on all four feet since the Cornulier 2024 in which she placed fourth. She is a champion with crystal legs, one knee sometimes making her wobble a little. Joël Hallais is keeping an eye on things and taking all four feet off his shoes for this great occasion. She can definitely win on Sunday.”

Blue Granvillaise (18): “She is the richest with more than 1.4 million euros in winnings. In the mounted trotting groups at , she has 34 participations, she has been ranked in the top five 32 times! It will be entrusted to Alexandre Abrivard on Sunday. She hasn’t won in a while but is definitely one of the contenders who could be in the running for a top five spot.”
