He has 371,000 followers on Instagram. On TikTok, it even goes up to 591,000! Thanks to his music and his humorous videos, Pierre Hugues José has become a real phenomenon on social networks.
But the man who never really got rid of his Franche-Comté accent remains very attached to Vesoul, a town in Haute-Saône where he grew up. This is where his interest in music began. From the fifth grade, PHJ, whose real name is Jordy Blanc, started listening to rap, before starting to rap himself as soon as he entered high school.
A student at Lycée Belin and strong in math, it was not music that he chose to study. After a first year in Math Sup, he continued at university until he obtained two masters and a doctorate in neuroscience. His thesis subject? Strong! Before becoming the rapper we know, he studied “metabolic changes during brain activation“. It was in 2020 that he finally chose to drop the blouse and turn completely towards music.
-In 2024, he is on the bill for Eurockéennes. Like any local kid, this isn’t the first time he’s set foot on the Malsaucy peninsula. This time on stage, he sets fire and delights his fans, thanks to his lyrics and the energy that we know him to have. Along the way, he also pays tribute to FC Sochaux, by proudly wearing the jersey of the Franche-Comté club.
Whenever he can, Pierre Hugues José celebrates the place where he comes from, just like the people who have always supported him. In his second EP, released in October 2024, he pays tribute to his mother and grandmother, as well as “rural life and small villages often neglected“.
In Vesoul, where he regularly returns to visit his loved ones, you can easily meet him at Pat’, at the Café Français, Place du Palais.
