[VIDÉOS] “Masked Singers”: the first to be unmasked is an early riser adored by the public

The personality unmasked in the opening of the fourth season of Masked singers is an early riser much appreciated by Quebecers.

In the Banana costume was hidden, you may have guessed, none other than Gino Chouinard, the former star host of Hello Hello.

The man who left the TVA morning show on June 21 after 21 seasons at the helm of the show – if we also take into account the weekend period – was the first to be unmasked among the 13 costumed people in this new version.

Gino was completely taken out of his comfort zone. Much to his delight, actually.

Over the course of several appointments devoted to fittings, vocal and dance rehearsals, recording two songs in the studio and then filming his performance in front of an audience, he experienced a great deal of pleasure, he who loves artists. But he had some beer in his cheek.

“I did Masked singers in the month of June in full rush from the end of Hello Hello“I don’t know how to sing, so I did it because I thought it was funny and I had a lot of fun even though I was disappointed to leave so soon,” said the host, who is in the middle of a “transition year.”

La Banane, a nod to its team

“The Banana costume was a nod to the whole team I worked with over the years because I eat a banana every morning for breakfast,” Gino said.

Hidden in his yellow suit with a head with big eyes, he took up the song The main streeta true classic of the group Les Colocs, surrounded by several dancers. He had also recorded the piece Cielfrom FouKi, in case he had to perform again at Masked singers.

Based on the clues – a personality unable to stop talking, hard-working and appreciated by the public, a real machine who does not fear change and toast in a toaster –, Mélissa Bédard believed that Stéphane Bellavance was hiding in the Banane. Sam Breton had opted for François Pérusse, Anouk Meunier for Ricardo and Stéphane Rousseau for Stefano Faita.

The studio audience and the investigators preferred the performances of the Unicorn, the Rhino and the Zebra, who thus continued their journey.

Make way for augmented reality

On Sunday we were able to see the full potential of augmented reality, a welcome addition to this fourth season.

This was particularly the case in the opening number and during the Rhino’s performance, when a plane flew through the sky before landing on stage.

This technology that is deployed at the time of capture adds magic to all the other artistic forms deployed at Masked singerswhether it be singing, dancing, directing and costume making.

A feeling of freedom for Gino Chouinard

This summer, Gino Chouinard worked on his first book to be published as well as on the ComediHa! gala in which he took part in Quebec.

It was only after these and other projects that he was finally able to breathe a little.

“I’m not in nostalgia [par rapport à Salut Bonjour]that’s for sure. I go to bed when my body needs me to and I get up when I’m rested. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss my gang. I watched the show a bit as a spectator, it’s funny, but everything happens at the right time and I think I chose the right time to retire,” he mentioned.

“I’m not in a hurry for the sequel. There’s the book, but for the sequel it’s loose, loose, loose, and that’s how I want it. I need a break to figure out what I want to do for the sequel. I have a feeling of freedom!” Gino emphasized.

A first book

Gino Chouinard will return to the set of Hello Hellothis Monday, to talk about his experience at Masked singers with Ève-Marie Lortie, who replaces him as host.

He will also announce details surrounding the launch of his first book, 3800 morningswhich will be published on October 2 by QUB Livre.
