VIDEO | Bruce Willis’s first public appearance since his dementia diagnosis: he thanks the Los Angeles police officers

The degenerative disease from which Bruce Willis suffers does not prevent him from always being full of humanity. In his first public outing since 2022, the actor was seen this week thanking Los Angeles police officers for their hard work since the fires started.

She is the 46-year-old wife of the actor Crystal TrapEmma Heming Willis, who published photos and a video of this touching moment on her Instagram page.

“When spotting a first responder, Bruce never missed an opportunity to show his gratitude by shaking their hand and saying “thank you for your service.” Yesterday was no different,” she wrote.

The black and white video extract shows the 69-year-old actor, a New York Yankees cap on his head, chatting with the LA police officers and shaking the hand of one of them for a long time before taking the pause at his side.

The video was shot to the song by Led Zeppelin Going to California.

“This fills my heart with joy,” Tallulah Willis, the youngest daughter of Bruce and ex-wife Demi Moore, wrote in a comment on Emma’s post.

This is Bruce Willis’ first public appearance since his family announced that the actor had been diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder, and would be stepping away from the stage. In 2023, the Willis family announced that Bruce had been more specifically diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive disease that causes atrophy of the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.
