A generous patron helps permanently save the Parisian theater La Comédie Italiane

Attilio Maggiulli, who is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the last venue dedicated to commedia dell’arte in , has become its owner.

Founded by Attilio Maggiulli just fifty years ago, the Italian Comédie, with its sky blue and gold facade, at numbers 17 and 19 rue de la Gaîté in Paris, has been saved. The man who is also its director has just bought from Nexity the part that did not yet belong to it, the theater lobby, thanks to 400,000 euros from a patron. Five years ago, the same donor « generous and enlightened », who apparently appreciates the programming of the place, had already bought a silk handkerchief that belonged to Marilyn Monroe (300,000 euros). From now on, Attilio Maggiulli is the owner of the last Italian theater in , a former police station.

He has never been helped, neither by Adami, nor by the ASTP support fund, he swears, and works without any subsidy. The last one, granted by the city of Paris, dates back twelve years. In the past, covered in debt, the director several times came close to putting…
