Eurovision song: Basel is looking for 700 volunteers

Around 700 volunteers are needed to help organize the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), which is being held in Basel from May 10 to 17. Nearly 7,000 people have already expressed their interest by pre-registering.

From Thursday at 1:00 p.m., people interested in participating in Eurovision Song Contest can register on the Swiss Volunteers platform www.swissvolunteers.ch, indicate the Presidential Department of the canton of Basel-City and the SRG SSR in a press release. common. The role of volunteers is ‘essential in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the host city of Basel’.

The volunteers’ tasks will be varied: from supervising international delegations to welcoming fans and media, including managing visitor flows, assisting at information and registration points or logistical activities. , specify the organizers. The icing on the cake: they will be able to take a look behind the scenes and take part in a ‘unique collective experience’.

At least 18 years old

Any person aged at least 18 at the time of registration and available for at least ten days between May 1 and May 20, 2025 can submit their application. The selection of volunteers will be based on their availability and skills, including language skills or familiarity with Basel and its surroundings.

Full preparation awaits the volunteers. In addition to training, volunteers will be fed and given clothing for their mission, which they can keep. Requirements vary depending on the area of ​​intervention: for certain positions, an interview is organized beforehand.

Switzerland is hosting the competition this year after the victory of the Bienne artist Nemo in Malmö in Sweden last year. The final will take place on May 17 at the Halle St-Jacques in Basel.
