Formed almost three years ago, the Fils & Ships group is embarking on a project to premier album. The trio, whose songs evoke sea people, travel and other adventures, started a participatory prize pool on the internet.

The birth of the trio

It’s no longer a secret: the members of La Rue Kétanou fell in love with Cotentin around ten years ago, and some of them return there regularly to give concerts under the name Nos Marins. After having seduced the inhabitants of La Hague, near Omonville-la-Rogue, they were also welcomed with kindness in the Val de Sairein Fermanville.

“When they came to our house, we pushed the furniture out of the living room, we made room for the transform into a small studioremembers Jean-Pierre Geismar. I have took back my guitar after a very long break, and I played a little with them, like that, I only had one composition. Then a second. My son Titouan also played. »

The guys from Nos Marins encouraged us to continue. They even had us play a few songs before them during a fishermen’s ball in Fermanville, on July 13, 2022. Our songs were liked and the adventure was born like that.

Father and son are anchored in the professional maritime world and are part of the crew of the SNSM sea rescue station from Fermanville.

“In August 2022, while I was playing during the open days of the SNSM station, Romain Lapie, who is a doctor at Barfleur and also a team member at the SNSM, came improvise on the violin. It sounded good, that’s how we came up with the idea of forming a trio. »

Their repertoire takes the public on a long-term journey that combines the human and maritime adventure. “Our songs tell the story of life on board ships and that of families on land, solidarity, joys and sorrows,” summarizes Captain Jean-Pierre Geismar, who sings and plays rhythm guitar, and who composes most of the songs. titles.

As for Titouan Geismar, he is also a singer-guitarist, also with percussion. Finally, Romain Lapie is a multi-instrumentalist because he uses the violin, the Irish banjo, the harmonica, the charango… and he even provides backing vocals. This cocktail has a delicious taste of French song, with varied sounds thanks to this mix of several instruments.
