Asked about declining interest in AEW, Jon Moxley talks about the future of the company

AEW audiences have been in constant decline for the past year. A situation that could be considered worrying and about which Jon Moxley was questioned during an interview he gave to Yahoo Sport :

“We’re building something. There’s a lot of stuff happening outside the ring. In recent months we’ve started building for the long term. We have this mentality and this approach where we want to feel pride in what we built. A lot of men and women are part of this project I am already proud of it but it is a long battle where we obtain small victories every day while learning a lot.

I don’t work specifically for AEW, I work for all the people who need this company to be successful, that’s how I see things. For this business to be a success, we must be at the top of the pyramid in all areas. These are specifications that you must accept to be part of our team. I feel responsible to these people because to achieve success in wrestling, they sacrificed their lives, like I did.

My goal is to help accomplish all of this, elevate AEW, and bring as many people with us as possible. It makes me a better person and I really learn a lot.”

This new long-term strategy of AEW can probably be reflected in the size of the arenas it reserves for its shows. Chris Jericho spoke about it recently: Tony Khan’s federation is thinking less big and that’s probably positive for the image it projects.

We will see if this less flamboyant AEW will turn things around in 2025.
