Princess Kate Middleton in remission from cancer

Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, said Tuesday that her cancer was in remission, lifting a pall over the British royal family, which had faced serious health problems for her and King Charles III.

“It’s a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery”wrote the wife of Prince William, on Instagram.

“As anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer knows, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. However, I am looking forward to a fulfilling year”she added.

Kate Middleton said last September that she had completed chemotherapy for her cancer and that her goal was to be cancer-free. But Kensington Palace, where she and William have their offices, declined to say at this stage whether her doctors had declared her medically free of cancer, or whether she was undergoing other treatment.

The cancer was detected in January after she entered the hospital for 14 days for abdominal surgery. The princess’ announcement nevertheless appears more promising than last fall’s update, although Kensington Palace again provided no additional medical details. A palace official warned that Catherine would gradually return to official duties over the rest of the year.

The news of her remission came as she visited the hospital, the Royal Marsden, in west London, where she had been treated.
