French billionaire Walter Butler buys Moma Group establishments

After Le Paradis Latin, Pierre Hermé and l’Ambroisie, Walter Butler is preparing to absorb one of the finest independent catering groups, the Moma Group, and its 800 employees and 36 establishments, including 18 in .

  • The discreet businessman Walter Butler established himself as a key player in festive catering in . With the purchase of the prestigious Moma Group, he signed a major acquisition, while leaving a 15% stake to its founder Benjamin Patou. Walter Butler will thus see its stake increase from 35% (acquired in 2023) to 85%. Among the emblematic addresses of the illustrious group founded in 1997, we find flagship brands such as Lapérouse, Le Boeuf sur le Toit, Mimosa, and Noto.
  • Walter Butler gets his hands on the thirty venues, restaurants and event rooms of the Moma Group, also distributed in Saint-Tropez, , Megève, Deauville and , and outside France, in Doha, Jeddah and Marrakech.
  • “After having grown a small Parisian business into an international group present today in 7 countries, which has a total of 41 establishments, I decided to hand over the group with confidence and emotion to Walter Butler, with whom I have the luck and the pleasure of working since its entry into the capital a year ago” writes Benjamin Patou on his Instagram account. He also specifies that he will remain “obviously present in this great adventure Moma Group, alongside (its) historical partners, and Walter Butler. Furthermore, I am taking over, on a personal basis, the iconic Lapérouse and Lafayette’s restaurants, which I am very happy about. »
