Saint-Vite. Liberty: “Light, the adventure continues”

On Thursday January 16, at 6:30 p.m., the Liberty invites you to attend the preview screening of Lumière! The adventure continues directly followed by a meeting with director Thierry Frémaux around 8:15 p.m.

The sequel to Lumière! The adventure begins unveils a hundred additional Lumière films, all restored according to the rules of the art, and aims above all to deepen the history of the invention and affirmation of cinema in the world. This new feature film, after the great success and worldwide release of its predecessor, will confirm to spectators around the world that the greatest and most beautiful works in the history of cinema find their roots in its origins, both profoundly French and truly international.

The success of the first part, Light! The adventure begins, which brought together 140,000 spectators, clearly proving that knowledge of the history of cinema contributes to the appreciation of contemporary films. Thierry Frémaux, a true film buff, personally illustrates this with a look at the past thanks to the heritage cinema broadcast at the Lumière Institute and his look at the future at the Film Festival, a springboard for new films. With Light! The adventure continues, he celebrates the advent of the 7th art by creating a commented work of montage of the restored films of the Lumière Brothers. These unforgettable images are a unique look at and the World as they opened up in the 20th century.

Director of the Lumière Institute of and general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, Thierry Frémaux also chairs the Frères Lumière association. In 2016, he directed Lumière! The adventure begins, a documentary which traces the history of the invention of cinema by the Lumière Brothers. He is the author of a biographical essay published in 2022 dedicated to Bertrand Tavernier, If we had known that we loved him so much, we would have loved him more (Ed.Grasset) and recently of Rue du Premier Film (Ed. Stock), tribute to the Institut Lumière. In 2025, the cinema will celebrate its 130th anniversary.
