“We are rehearsing for our spring concert,” says Marie-Pierre Virolle, new president of the Harmonie de orchestra (Val-d’Oise), enthusiastically this Friday, December 27.

The passage of the Olympic flame

Before that, the institution created in 1859 experienced a year full of dates. With these 45 instrumentalists, in March, the orchestra played at Saint-Maclou Cathedral as part of the baroque festival.

During the Fête de la Musique in June, the musicians invited fans to come and attend a rehearsal. In July, in its formation reduced to around ten musicians, the Fanf’Harmonie played to animate the passage of the Olympic flame in Théméricourt.

In September, Marie-Pierre Virolle, 56, SVT teacher, member of the Harmony since 2017 and clarinet player since the age of 10, became president of the Harmony.

Another important date: on December 14, the ensemble performed with the professional orchestra Le Balcon, in residence at Points communes de -Pontoise, at the Louvrais national theater. “We played Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique rearranged by Arthur Lavandier,” says Marie-Pierre Virolle.

Film music

L’Harmonie will perform on March 30 at the Dôme, at 4 p.m.

This concert has the theme of Japan. More precisely music from films, animations or video games. Our leader, David Louis, is an arranger, full of ideas. He has no problem doing what he wants.

For this date, reservations are strongly recommended, “because in general, we fill the Dôme”, specifies Marie-Pierre Virolle. Another date planned: in June, Fanf’Harmonie should host a birthday this year, before a new “big concert at the end of the year”.

To be able to ensure all these performances, the ensemble, made up of amateurs, recruits “with preference, because these are the most deficient music stands in terms of recruitment, for flutes, saxophones and percussionists”.
