A key figure in luxury communications, Benjamin Cercio is leaving Gucci to join Givenchy and take care of the group’s international communications.
After the big transfer window for designers, it’s time for that of global communications directors. While the Italian house Elisabetta Franchi has just appointed Matteo Aceti Global Communication Director, Givenchy announces the arrival of Benjamin Cercio as head of communications.
With nearly 20 years of experience in prestigious luxury houses such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci, Benjamin Cercio has built recognized expertise in the world of brand communication. A graduate of SKEMA Business School, he began his career at Louis Vuitton in 2006 as a European press officer. He quickly rose through the ranks to become Celebrity Press Manager, where he oversaw relationships with iconic figures in cinema and fashion. In 2016, he rose to the position of Director of International Celebrity Relations, before being promoted in 2018 to International Director of Press, Influencer and Entertainment Relations.
“I always wanted to evolve in the world of fashion,” he declared on the blog of his former school Skema last October. It is a very creative sector, subject to a frenetic pace given the seasonal rhythms and which provides a lot of adrenaline. »
A new era for Givenchy
In 2022, Benjamin Cercio joins Gucci as Director of Global Communications. He leads major initiatives there, notably strengthening the brand’s notoriety and positioning in the world of luxury. Two years later, he founded Bencercio, a communications agency specializing in luxury brands.
It is through this structure that Benjamin Cercio will play his role as new communications director within the LVMH subsidiary. Its mission is to “strengthen Givenchy’s global presence and brand identity”. According to WWD, his duties will include “overseeing the image, public relations, events, digital, visual merchandising and heritage departments globally, in coordination with the regions.” For her part, her predecessor, Valérie Leberichel, takes the reins of global communications at Gucci as vice-president.
Last September, the Parisian house announced the arrival of Sarah Burton as artistic director, succeeding Matthew Williams. A few months earlier, in July, Alessandro Valenti was named CEO, marking a new era for Givenchy.
